- “I remain the bona fide chairman” – Ambut
BY ABDULWAHEED O. ADUBI – The Kaduna State Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oluwatuyi Victor Olayinka has described the alleged suspension of the State chairman of the Party, Elder Patrick Ambut as illegal, gross violation of the ADC constitution and contrary to the established procedures and laid down rules of the Party.
Olayinka specifically said that the Deputy Chairman acted without due process, as he lacked the constitutional authority to convene any meeting or issue such a directive.
The Secretary explained that based on the provisions of the Constitution of the ADC, it is only the State Chairman that has the power to convene a meeting of the Party, and shall be done through the State Secretary.
Olayinka pointedly said that it is on record that both the State Chairman and the State Secretary were duly elected by the Congress, and remain the legitimate officers of the party in Kaduna State.
This is as the State Chapter Chairman of ADC, Elder Patrick Ambut, described his purported suspension as a dangerous rumour targeted at embarrassing the party in the state and beyond.
Ambut, in a statement on Tuesday, 21st October 2025, declared that the purported suspension did not originate from the party, thus should be discarded and totally ignored.
In the words of Ambut; “I remain the authentic chairman of the party in the state. The letter in circulation about my suspension is laughable, and not authentic.
“Such action is an attempt by the enemies of the ADC which is growing in leaps and bounds, to see that the party does not succeed in the 2027 general elections,” he noted.
While calling on those he described as meddlesome interlopers in the affairs of the ADC to desist from such unwholesome acts, Ambut said that after taking a critical look at the purported letter that emanated from the political jobbers, it was obvious that it lacked substance.
He said; “Do you just suspend a sitting chairman without any cause of action or offence? What could lead to my suspension was not clearly defined, but just an attempt to cause disunity and crisis among the State Working Committee of the party and members.
“ADC is strong, united and any attempt by the ruling political party and the few elements within the party to cause disunity and crisis cannot and will not succeed,” Ambut stressed.
The ADC Kaduna State chairman therefore urged the public to ignore the fake news, and called on the party members and supporters across the state and beyond not to take the elements behind such letter serious.
In his own comments, the State Secretary of the ADC, Oluwatuyi Victor Olayinka, said that the Deputy Chairman, Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha and some few members of the party are presently under investigation over their illegal meeting, falsification of documents, and unauthorized official communication to agencies.
Olayinka accused them of being agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state with the intention to cripple the ADC in Kaduna State.
He further said; “The Deputy Chairman’s actions are therefore unauthorized, null, and void, and viewed as a desperate attempt to usurp power and destabilize the activities of the party in the state, especially as we prepare for upcoming elections.
“It is also pertinent to note that the same Deputy Chairman is currently under investigation for gross misconduct, abuse of office, impersonation, and acts capable of causing disunity within the party.
“The leadership of ADC Kaduna State remains committed to peace, discipline, and the rule of law as enshrined in our party’s constitution. We therefore urge all members and the general public to disregard the purported and fabricated suspension notice and continue with their legitimate party activities,” he said.
The ADC State Secretary particularly called on members of the public to disregard the purported suspension notice issued by the deputy chairman of the party.
