Despite earlier warnings from the party leadership, the meeting held and produced critical decisions ahead of the 2027 general elections which the ward executives noted are completely outside the schedules and responsibility of Eyiboh.
The Eyiboh stakeholders meeting declared support for President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio to continue in office and also backed Senator Ekong Sampson and House of Representatives member Okpolupm Etteh for continuity in leadership.
In his reaction to the suspension, Eyiboh argued that meeting was not a formal party gathering, thus did not require the permission and or approval of party officials.
While rejecting the suspension, Eyiboh insisted that there is a clear difference between party meetings and community stakeholders’ gatherings, saying that the latter falls outside the control of party executives.
The media aide to Akpabio questioned the authority of local party leaders over such meetings, and particularly questioned their power over community stakeholders meeting.
