Anambra Guber Poll: Results’ Cancellation, Count Us Out ― APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra has distanced itself from the reports that it is calling for the cancellation of the November 6, 2021 governorship election in the state.
State chairman of the party, Chief Basil Ejidike, who debunked the reports during a news conference held at APC’s State Secretariat in Awka on Monday, said; “I was surprised that several reports were circulated in the social media, saying that APC called for the cancellation of the election, that the chairman of APC fainted and also lost his polling unit.
“All the reports were fake, and at no time did I make such statement in the media,” Ejidike said.
According to him, the APC could not have made such a statement while the process was still ongoing, adding; “There is no how we could have called for the cancellation of the results in an ongoing election.
“But all we are advising the electoral umpire at this stage is for them to right the wrong because there are a lot of flaws recorded during Saturday governorship election.”
However, the APC Chairman admitted that the exercise had issues in many areas of the State and listed the polling units in Idemili North, entire Orumba North, Anambra East, Ayamelum, Anambra West, and Awka North among others, as those most affected.
He regretted that despite issues raised by the party, the INEC returning officer went ahead and announced the results in Orumba North Local Government Area.
Ejidike said the APC was more concerned about letting the Electoral Commission address the challenges as in Ihiala Local Government Area where a supplementary exercise has been arranged. – NAN
