Animal Farm: EFCC, Cubana Chief Priest, Opt For Out Of Court Settlement

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and multi-billionaire celebrity, Cubana Chief Priest, have resolved to settle the legal matter in court as a result of the abuse of the Naira out of court.

The out-of-court settlement was announced on Thursday morning at the resumption of Court proceedings.

At the resumption of proceedings, Mrs Bilikisu Buhari appeared for the prosecution (EFCC), while Mr Chikaosolu Ojukwu, SAN, announced appearance for the defendant (Cubana Chief Priest).

Buhari told the Court that the two parties were exploring settlement and had applied for the matter to be settled pursuant to the provisions of section 14(2) of the EFCC Act.

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State, presided over by Justice Kehinde Ogundare, on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, granted Cubana Chief Priest bail in the sum N10 million with two sureties in like sum.

Cubana Chief Priest was arraigned on three counts bordering on abuse of the naira, spraying and tampering with the nation’s currency at a social event contrary to the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Cubana Chief Priest was alleged to have sprayed the naira on February 13, 2024 at Eko Hotel and therefore committed the offences while dancing during at a social event.
