APC Clinches Majority Seats In Senate

BY VICTOR BUORO – The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has so far secured 49 Senatorial seats to retain its majority in the Red chamber when the 10th National Assembly gets underway later in June this year.

According to the parliamentary polls results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the breakdown shows APC clinching more than half of the 89 seats already declared.

Coming in second place is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that captured 28 seats with Labour Party garnering six while New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) won two seats each.

Also marking presence on the victory register are the Young Progressive Party (YPP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) who have bagged one senatorial seat each

Except the unexpected happens, the APC, with the 49 senators in its kitty, looks set to retain its current majority status in the 10th Senate.

The Nigerian Senate boasts of 109 members, comprising three each from the 36 States and one from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
