APC Governors, Key Leaders Endorse President Tinubu For Second Term

Governors on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Thursday, May 22, 2025, officially endorsed and adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.

The adoption of President Tinubu which took place at the APC National Summit held at the Presidential Villa, witnessed Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State announced the decision, saying that the governors had collectively agreed that President Tinubu should be the sole candidate of the APC for the 2027 elections.

Uzodimma, who is also the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, said the performance of the President needed to be encouraged and supported for more results.

Accordingly, Uzodimma moved a motion for the endorsement of President Tinubu which was seconded by Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani.

Shortly after the motion was proposed, the question was put to the gathering which garnered an overwhelming “yes” vote.

President Tinubu is in the middle of his first term, with the general election about two years away, but in spite that, discussions on his re-election has assumed the centre stage of political discourse in the country.

Already, posters and billboards headlining Tinubu’s re-election have taken over strategic locations in Abuja and other state capitals in the country.

Similarly, governors and key political figures from the North Central geo-political zone, have also given their nod for President Tinubu’s re-election.

At a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday evening, the five APC governors of the zone along with other prominent stakeholders of the party, reiterated their commitment towards ensuring Tinubu second term bid.

The party leaders emphasised the importance of re-electing President Tinubu to ensure the continuity of the successful policies and initiatives he has put in place.

The motion for the endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term in 2027 was formally moved by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.
