APC Loses Big In Zamfara As Ex-Gov Yari, Sen Marafa Join PDP
With political combatants effectively positioning themselves ahead of the 2023 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost some of its big names in Zamfara State to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Leading lights in the defection drama are former Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari Abubakar, and Senator Kabiru Garba Mafara who have decided to embrace the opposition PDP alongside other top APC members in the state.
Chairman of Zamfara State chapter of PDP, Colonel Bala Mande (rtd) told journalists in Gusau on Sunday that the party has received the APC’s defectors into their fold under an agreement that would be fully implemented without any hitch.
Col Mande said; “Gentlemen of the press, we have called you to brief you on the joining of our great party the PDP by the former Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari, Senator Kabiru Garba Mafara, and their supporters.
“They have joined us, we have reached an agreement and we are going to implement the agreement. We have agreed to be together in one party, the PDP and work together for the success of the party.”
According to the PDP chairman, all stakeholders within the opposition party have agreed to come together and work extra hard in order to reclaim Zamfara in 2023 and save its people from the present predicament.
The Chairman, while disclosing that Yari, Marafa, and other APC chieftains would soon be officially received in Gusau in a colourful ceremony, said; “I have given the stakeholders a complete update of where we are as a result of this development.”
