APC Members Defect To PRP In Kaduna

BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – The convener of Akida All Progressives Congress (APC) faction, Kaduna State, Mr. Mataimaki Tom Maiyashi, and hundreds of his supporters have defected to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Announcing his defection to the party and his supporters in Kaduna, Maiyashi said that all patriotic Nigerians should rise to rescue the nation from the misruled of APC government in the country.
Before now, thousands of other APC members also dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political parties in the state, including APUGA, recently.
Maiyashi explained, “It will be recalled that a few weeks ago, the AKIDA and the Kaduna Restoration groups in APC had a joint press conference, announcing our plans to leave the party.
“We took that decision after extensive reviews and consultations over the state of the APC in Kaduna state as well as the nation.
“Since that announcement, the indicators of the hostile environment created have remained literally the same, justifying our members and others leaving the party in droves.”
According to him, “The APC, as presently constituted, remains incapable of accommodating and responding to well-meaning dissent, criticisms and demands for inclusiveness and internal democracy.
“It only stands to reason that, those, who cherish the virtues of accountability and integrity, should move out rather than get suffocated by those, who believe that the virtues of democracy represent their personal interests and aggrandizement.
“The APC has turned democracy on its head. And ‘change’ now earns a new meaning! Having carefully given due considerations to these issues and more, I have taken the most reasonable and responsible decision to join my colleagues and patriots in the PRP.
“I am confident that PRP is the platform for all patriotic Nigerians, who genuinely share the need to give Nigeria a great future and genuine change.
“I want to, again, commend the resilience and commitment of all our colleagues in AKIDA and the Restoration for standing up against institutionalized exclusion, marginalization and abuse. We must all keep faith; be prepared to join other compatriots to bring about fundamental change in our State and our Nation.”
