APC, PDP Tango Over Gov Obaseki’s Score Card

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapters in Edo State are fighting dirty over the score card and performance profile of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Firing the first salvo is newly elected State chairman of APC, Col David Imuse (rtd) who accused Governor Obaseki and the PDP of running a government with massive irregularities and lacking in transparency.

Col Imuse said the opposition party has compiled a list detailing such irregularities that would soon be made public, even as he alleged that the governor is running the affairs of Edo State as a dictator.

In a statement delivered during the APC state congress, Imuse said; “As you know, we do not have a governor, we have a Sole Administrator.

“Obaseki’s PDP administration is the greatest scam that has ever happened in Edo political history. Details will be made known to Edo people very soon.

“The party is now fully prepared to play the role of credible opposition with constructive criticisms based on facts and intelligence.”

However, in sharp response to the APC’s claims, the ruling PDP described the statement credited to Col Imuse as rag-tag and a poor perception of good governance.

A statement signed by the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Chris Nehikhare said; “How can a party that wishes to be taken seriously, call a government that is performing a scam?

“Our civil and public servants continue to get their salaries as at when due, contractors continue to be mobilised monthly and their contracts commissioned and made available for use by Edo people.”

According to Nehikhare; “Pension payments maintained and paid regularly while the state government COVID-19 management regime is the protocol of choice for many state governments.”

“How can such a government be a scam?”, the PDP spokesman queried in his statement.
