The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rescue House (PDP-RH), has condemned what it described as the ‘crude and despicable attacks’ on PDP members in Lagos State by thugs acting on the instruction of All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP Rescue House noted that only recently, the Party’s Deputy Governorship candidate for Lagos State, Funke Akindele, narrowly escaped assassination as heavily armed political thugs attacked her campaign train when she went to campaign to market women in Lagos State.

These were contained in a statement by the National Coordinators of the PDP Rescue House, Pastor John Shuaibu and Mr. Omoyemi Gold, in which they stressed that if the waves of violence in Lagos are allowed to go unchecked, the goal of leaving a legacy of a free, fair and transparent election by President Muhammadu Buhari will be defeated.

PDP rescue House therefore appealed to President Buhari to use his good office to checkmate the ugly incidence and ensure the safety of Nigerians especially opposition candidates and their supporters, particularly the Governorship Candidate of PDP in Lagos State, Dr Olajide Adediran and his deputy, Funke Akindele.

The group also want the President to protect members of the PDP in Lagos State who it noted have become targets of violent attacks by APC political thugs.

In the words of Shuaibu and Gold; “Should campaigns be made bloody? We take notice of Your Excellency’s firm commitment to a peaceful election as conveyed in your repeated warning against violence by political actors.

“But we are afraid that certain elements, particularly in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State are doing everything to rubbish your well intentioned resolve.

“It is for this reason, that we appeal to you to protect PDP members in Lagos State who have become targets of violent attacks by APC political thugs,” they said.
