The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has sacked the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe.

In their ruling on Tuesday, the three-member panel of justices declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Sa’ad Abdullahi Ibrahim (Turakin-Opanda), as the rightful winner of the election for Umaisha/Ugya State Constituency of the state.

However, in another judgment, the Appellate court affirmed the victory of Jacob Ajegana Kudu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), representing Naasarawa Eggon East Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly election conducted on March 18, 2023 in the State.

The Court’s ruling dismissed the petition filed by Ibrahim Muhammed, the PDP candidate, who had challenged the outcome of the keenly contested poll in the constituency.

In a chat with journalists immediately after the judgment, Kudu dedicated his victory to the will of God, even as he expressed gratitude to the judiciary for upholding the will of the people.

The PDP lawmaker reiterated his commitment to serving the constituents diligently and delivering on electoral promises made to them.
