Armed Bandits Attack Birnin-Gwari Again, Kill 5 Persons
BY ALIJO SYLVESTER, ABUJA – Barely one week after security operatives searched for arms in Kuriga village, armed bandits on Friday stormed the village situated along Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna road and killed five people with 12 others sustaining bullet wounds that included women and children.
A statement by the Birnin-Gwari Vanguards for Security and Good Governance following the dastardly attacks said the armed bandits had a field day from 2.05pm (Friday) when the Muslim Juma’at congregation was halfway to conclude.
The group said the bandits shot sporadically at the worshippers just as they embarked on house to house operations unchallenged.
One of the residents of Kuriga village that succeeded in escaping from the attacks, Musa said they were attacked by the armed bandits just a week after people in uniform come around 1.00am in search of arms.
He pointedly said; “We suspect a foul play on this attack. The attacks like many others around Birnin-Gwari axis continued without any attempts by the security personnel to repel the attacks. It was the vigilantes from neighboring Udawa and Birnin-Gwari that succeeded in repelling the attacks. The armed bandits succeeded in carting away 89 cows from Kuriga village.”
Kuriga village is in Chikun Local Government area of Kaduna State along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.
