Army Foils Multiple Suicide Bomb Attacks- Police Confirms
BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed between Cimari community and No Man’s Land, Magazine Local Government Area on the outskirt of Maiduguri township on Monday intercepted a female suicide bomber trying to infiltrate the community through the parapet ahead.
The suicide bomber in an attempt to escape, was shot by the troops and as a result, the suicide vest on her body exploded killing her immediately.
Similarly, at about 0430hrs of same date, a female suicide bomber attempted to enter a mosque in London Ciki area in Jere Local Government Area in the outskirt of Maiduguri township during which she detonated PBIED on her body killing herself and eight others, while 18 other persons sustained injuries.
Police EOD teams were promptly deployed to the scenes to sanitize and render the vicinities safe for normal activities to continue. The corpses and the injured persons were evacuated to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
In the same vein, troops of the Nigerian Army deployed to Mammanti village in Molai general area in Konduga Local Government Area, on the outskirt of Maiduguri Township on Sunday intercepted two teenage female suicide bombers trying to infiltrate the village through the parapet ahead of the village.
The bombers were engaged by the troops after being challenged which resulted in the detonation of their suicide vests, killing the two suicide bombers.
A statement issued by the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Damian A. Chukwu said no other casualty was recorded.
