Army Redeploys Adeosun, Biu, Other Top Military Officers In Massive Reorganisation
BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai has approved new postings and appointments of officers of the Nigerian Army.
A statement by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, said that the exercise is part of the routines of the Army carried out to reinvigorate the system for greater professional efficiency.
The appointments which take immediate effect, include that of the newly promoted Lt Gen Lamidi Adeosun, who was Chief of Training and Operations, is taking over as Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), while Major General AO Shodunke from Army Headquarters Department of Standards and Evaluation is moving to the Defence Headquarters as Chief of Defence Logistics.
Others include Major General AA Tarfa from Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre to Training and Doctrine Command, Minna as Commander, Major General EO Udoh from the Army Headquarters Department of Logistics takes over as Chief of Training and Operations (Army) and Major General MS Yusuf, who was the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, is now Chief of Administration (Army).
Similarly, Major General JI Unuigbe, who was Corps Commander Ordnance takes over as the Chief of Logistics (Army) while Major General OF Azinta, former General Officer Commanding 2 Division is appointed as Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation.
The list also showed that Major General AB Omozoje of Army Headquarters, Department of Policy and Plans, is taking over as the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Ibadan.
Also, newly promoted Major General AB Biu is now a substantive General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Maiduguri, while Major General JJ Ogunlade from Defence Headquarters is to resume as the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Sokoto, just as Major General JO Irefin from Defence Headquarters Garrison has been appointed as the General Officer Commanding, 81 Division Lagos.
The erstwhile Chief of Administration (Army), Major General KAY Isiyaku is now Commander Defence Headquarters Garrison, Abuja while Major General AA Jidda from Defence Headquarters is now the Coordinator of Peacekeeping Operations at the Ministry of Defence. The appointments also include that of Major General JO Oni from Army Headquarters Department of Army Administration, as Director Procurement Defence Headquarters taking over from Maj Gen OA Akintade, who becomes Corps Commander Ordinance, Lagos just as Major General OW Ali from Defence Headquarters is now the Director, Army Physical Training Zaria.
Also affected are Major General EN Njoku, who will remain at the Defence Headquarters but redeployed as Director Communications, with Major General CG Musa from Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited now appointed Commander Sector 3 Operation, LAFIYA DOLE, Monguno while Major General OT Akinjobi from Headquarters Sector 3 Operation LAFIYA DOLE becomes the Director Standards and Evaluation at Defence Headquarters.
The postings also include Brig Gen KA Kazir, who is to remain at the Army Headquarters Department of Projects and Programmes but moved as Acting Executive Director of Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited, while Brig Gen AE Attu moves from Nigerian Army Resource Centre to the National Defence College as Acting Deputy Commandant while Brig Gen MT Usman from Headquarters 28 Task Force Brigade moves to Headquarters, Guards Brigade Abuja as Commander taking over from Brig Gen UT Musa, who becomes Acting Commandant Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre Jaji, just as Brig Gen GO Adesina remains at the Department of Policy and Plans but would now serve as Acting Director Policy.
The list also include Brig Gen LA Fejokwu from National Defence College, who to assume new office as the Acting Director Personnel Services at Army Headquarters, with Brig Gen EAP Undiandeye from Army Headquarters Department of Army Transformation and Innovation becoming the Acting Director Foreign Liaison at the Defence Intelligence Agency Abuja while Brig Gen JY Nimyel from Nigerian Army Resource Centre Abuja resuming a new position as Commandant, Amphibious Training School Calabar just as Brig Gen OO Oluyede takes over as Commander 27 Task Force Brigade Buni Yadi while Brig Gen PP Malla moves from 82 Division Garrison, Enugu to Headquarters of 28 Task Force Brigade, Chibok as Commander.
Others are; Brig Gen OM Bello of Headquarters 6 Division Port Harcourt now resuming as the Commander 1 Brigade Sokoto, while Brig Gen MA Etsu-Ndagi from Army Headquarters Garrison Abuja becomes the Commander 9 Brigade Lagos just as Col RC Emeh from Defence Headquarters is appointed Assistant Director, Army Physical Training at 3 Division Physical Training Group Jos.
In the same vein, Col MO Erebulu who just completed a course at Higher War College, Egypt has been appointed as Commander, 2 Provost Group Ibadan with Lt Col SA Abimbola from Nigerian Army Operations Centre at Army Headquarters now resuming as Commanding Officer 343 Artillery Regiment Elele whereas Lt Col SM Ahmed from 375 Artillery Regiment Baga, becomes the Commanding Officer 332 Artillery Regiment Shendam, amongst others.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai while wishing the new appointees well in their respective positions, charged them to take their new responsibilities seriously and discharge all duties professionally with utmost loyalty to Service and Nation.
