Assault On Bolt Driver By Hon Ikwechighi: Police Commence Investigation
The Nigeria Police Force on Monday, October 28, 2024, confirmed it is aware of the incident that took place between a Bolt driver, Mr. Stephen Abuwatseya, and Hon. Alexander Ikwechighi, a member of the Hous of Representatives.
The Bolt driver, Mr Stephen Abuwatseya was assaulted by Hon Ikwecheghi on Sunday, October 27, 2024, in Maitama, Abuja.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, said that following the Bolt driver, Mr. Abuwatseya’s official complaint, the FCT Police Command has commenced investigation into the matter at the Maitama Police Divisional Headquarters.
ACP Adejobi, stressed that the Police Force condemns any misuse of authority and therefore urged the public to avoid using the office or name of the Inspector-General of Police for intimidation and harrassment.
In his words; “Such acts compromise the impartiality and integrity of the IGP’s office”.
The spokesman of the police, assured the public of a thorough and unbiased investigation into the case.
