Atiku Woos Gov Dankwambo For 2019, Wants Unity In PDP
BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar says only a united front within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and among Nigerians can rescue the country from the unbearable hardship and suffering inflicted on the people by the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s administration.
Speaking in continuation of his nationwide consultations and mobilization, Atiku said on Monday that there is an urgent need for members to unite and support the PDP in its resolve to improve the lots of Nigerians by re-claiming power at the next general elections.
The Former Vice President, who was in Gombe to woo Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo and solicit support for his Presidential aspiration on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform come 2019, pledged his commitment to ensure Gombe State benefits immensely from the party’s zoning arrangement.
“Here we are again back at a very crucial moment in the history of our democracy, back to politics. In the interest of our people, there is the need for a united front from this zone as far as the issue of the leadership of this country is concerned.”
According to him, “I want to assure you of my readiness and total commitment to ensure that we as a zone also benefit from this leadership zoning arrangement of this country and we can only achieve that, if we remain united.”
In his response, Alhaji Dankwambo praised the former Vice President for his continued focus and work at mobilizing Party members across the country ahead of 2019 polls.
The governor noted that Atiku’s marshalling and organizing efforts have indeed assisted in spicing up PDP activities, thereby giving Party members and majority of Nigerians hope that come 2019, the PDP will succeed in returning to power at the centre.
Governor Dankwambo stated that with politics being about hope, he and many others remain hopeful that the PDP is on its way back as the nation’s ruling party after 2019 elections. – With agency report<
