One of the campaign mobilizers and a core loyalist of the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku in Rivers State, Comrade Rhino Owhorkire has been shot and brutally wounded.
Owhortire, who is the Director for Youths Mobilization of the Atiku/Okowa Campaign Council in Rivers State was shot by gunmen leaving his mouth badly shattered.
Owhorkire, who was President of the UNIPORT Students Union Government and who hails from Omuoko Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP in 2017.

The ugly incident took place barely a month after Owhorkire was allegedly kidnapped in November and forced to denounce his support for Atiku.
Owhorkire was allegedly shot on his way home in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State on Wednesday night.
Owhorkhire was in November 2022 seen in a video that later went viral in a cave-like location somewhere in Rivers State denouncing support for Atiku under duress as he was surrounded by some persons who guarded his speech even as he was visibly frightened.
It was gathered that his assailants shot at Owhorkire’s vehicle tyres before aiming at his direction and shot him through the windscreen.
The badly wounded Owhorkire is believed to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility with a shattered mouth.
Contacted over the development, the police Public Relations Officer for the Rivers State command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, saying the Commissioner of Police, CP Okon Effion, had ordered an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident with a promise that those behind the act would be apprehended.
Iringe-Koko said; “Yes, it happened. I have spoken with the Divisional Police Officer in the area. We are working to get the details, but I can tell you that investigation has commenced. We will surely get to the root of the matter and fish out those behind the attack”.
