Attack: Death Toll Hits 8 In Plateau

By CHAMBERLAIN ODEY, JOS – No fewer than eight persons were confirmed dead in last night’s attack on an inn in Nging village of Fan District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau state.
The attack, which took place in the wee hours of Sunday evening at a social in mostly patronized by illegal miners on their way home from daily toil, according to eye witness report, occurred when some unidentified gun arrived the vicinity of the relaxation centre and
opened gun fire on unsuspecting miners, killing six instantly.
According to the same eye witness account, another two persons who were among the injured ones rushed to the Plateau State Specialist Hospital for medical care died early Monday morning.
A police report was still being awaited at the time of this report. However, tension is reported to be growing with apprehension in Fan
District and the environs, as angry youths are said to be mobilizing to fish out the perpetrators.
