Author Ndifreke Ukpong Breaks Silence “A Future In Chains’
After a brief hiatus, Author Ndifreke Ukpong is set to release his latest novel, “A Future In Chains”, saying that contrary to insinuations in certain quarters that he had stopped writing, he was busy crafting his next literary masterpiece.
Ukpong expressed his commitment to social justice which he makes to shine through his writings, adding that his latest novel is no exception.
He said; “I believe that writing is not just about putting words on paper, but about creating a lasting impact on the society. That is why I take my time to write novels that address pressing social issues and inspire change.
“I can tell you that “A Future In Chains’ tells the poignant story of a woman who loses her husband and is forced to marry her husband’s brother, highlighting the struggles women face in patriarchal societies.
With this novel, Ukpong aims to spark necessary conversations about social justice and equality, saying that the book which spans 102 pages, will be available for free to readers, making it accessible to a wide audience.
He said that his dedication to telling stories that need to be told is commendable, adding that his novel promises to be an impactful addition to the literary landscape, inspiring empathy and encouraging meaningful discussions.
According to him; “By exploring the complexities of societal expectations and gender dynamics, my novel provides a platform for voices that have been silenced or overlooked”. Ukpong explained that through his writing, he encourages readers to question the status quo and strive for a more equitable society, stressing that the novel, ‘A Future In Chains’ is a call to action, a reminder that storytelling has the power to shape perspectives and inspire change.
He further said that the novel is a testament to the transformative power of literature and a tribute to the strength and resilience of women everywhere.
