BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Another night of anguish and pains confronted the government and people of Niger State as bandits abducted the Permanent Secretary in Niger Ministry of Transportation, Dr Ibrahim Garba Musa, alongside his granddaughter.

Both were ferried away from Garba’s house in Zugeru on Friday night after attending a wedding celebration.

According to family sources, the unknown gunmen struck late at night when they visited the Permanent Secretary’s compound, brought down the gate, and abducted the Permanent Secretary who was relaxing with his granddaughter in the house.

The source said the family has officially informed the State Government about the incident but could not confirm if the matter has already been documented with the State Police Command.

Reacting to inquiries on the unfortunate incident, Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, said though the information has reached him concerning the abduction, efforts were on to get official confirmation from the Police.

However, the SSG assured that the State Government would not relent in ensuring that the Permanent Secretary and his granddaughter are rescued from the kidnappers’ den unharmed.

Efforts to contact the Niger Police Command spokesman, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abiodun Wasiu were unfruitful as he could not be reached before filing the report.

More to come soon…
