BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, ABUJA – Concerned over decayed infrastructure which is hindering effective teaching and learning, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has directed the construction of classrooms in Dajin Community of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the State.

Governor Mohammed, who gave the directive on Monday while on a working visit to the area, stressed that by the time he goes back in the next two weeks, significant progress must have been made on the project.

Mohammed said that the action became necessary in order to discourage teaching and learning as well as the provision of educational activities under the tree in the area.

He particularly directed that the project must commence and significant progress must be made within two weeks, adding that the State Government has included the area in the proposed rural road construction when the state secures a World Bank Intervention for Rural Community Development.

Mohammed also assured that his administration is more than ever before, determined to improve on the quality of lives of people in both urban and rural areas.

One of the community leaders, Bala Maihoto Dajin, while commending the immediate intervention of the governor, noted that lack of educational infrastructure is the main reason discouraging the enrollment of children into schools in the area.

Others who spoke during the brief occasion also commended Governor Mohammed for opening up of rural areas of the state saying that with such, the state will soon join the league of developed states in the country.
