Bauchi: NDLEA Arrest 415 Suspects, Seizes 1.2 Tones Of Hard Drugs In 2024

BY ADEYEMI AKANJI, BAUCHI – The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Bauchi State command, said it arrested a total of 415 drug suspects with a grand total of 1.2 tones of various drugs in 2024.

It said the drugs confiscated included Cannabis Sativa popularly known as wee-wee, Diazepam, Exol-5, Pentazocine, Methamphetamine, Rohypnol and Tramadol from January to December, 2024.

CN Ali Aminu, State Commander of the Agency, announced these on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 during a chat with journalists to review activities of the Command in the year 2024.

Aminu also said that 70 cases were charged to Court while 84 suspects successfully prosecuted with 18 pending cases at Federal High Court, Bauchi, adding that 137 clients or drug users were counselled and rehabilitated, saying that majority of them through brief interventions in NDLEA Custody in Bauchi.

He warned members of the public to stop indulging in the illicit use and trafficking of Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic Substances, stressing that anyone arrested with hard drugs would definitely be prosecuted.

In the words of Aminu; “At this point, permit me to express my sincere appreciation to the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig-General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd) for repositioning the Agency and bringing in a new zeal into the personnel of the Agency to rededicate themselves to fighting the scourge of illicit drug abuse and trafficking.

“Also, I want to use this opportunity to appreciate Governor Bala Mohammed (Kauran Bauchi) for his keen interest and immense logistics support rendered to the State Command towards eradicating illicit drug abuse and trafficking,” he said.

Aminu also thanked sister agencies that assisted in apprehending drug dealers and enjoined them to always liaise with the NDLEA in curbing the menace of drugs.
