Botched Palliatives Distribution: Ooni’s Ex-wife, Others Remanded In Prison
An Oyo State Magistrate Court sitting in Ibadan, on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, ordered that Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oriyomi Hamzat, the owner of Agidigbo FM; and Fasasi Abdulahi, Principal of Bashorun Islamic High School be remanded in prison.
The Court presided over by Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi directed that trio should remain at the Agodi Correctional Facility pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) of the Oyo State Ministry of Justice.
The accused were arraigned on a four-count charge that bothering on conspiracy, acceleration of death, negligent acts causing harm, and failure to provide adequate security and medical facilities before the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Iyaganku, Ibadan on Tuesday.
The court premises were filled with people and supporters of the accused who gathered to show solidarity with Oriyomi Hamzat.
However, the heavy presence of security operatives ensured calm throughout the proceedings as police vehicles conveying the suspects later departed the premises.
There was however, a moment of commotion outside the court by the supporters before order was later restored.
