Bauchi Police Assure Of Hitch Free Lepm Zaar 2020 Festival
BY ADEYEMI AKANJI – The Bauchi State Police Command has assured residents of the state particularly the people of Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro Local Government Areas of adequate security and protection during the 2020 annual Lepm Zaar cultural festival.
The police command which gave the assurance while reacting to the leadership crisis rocking the festival, said that the situation is under control and assured that there will be no breach of peace in the area on Saturday when the festival will be taking place.
The Commissioner of Police, Lawan Tanko Jimeta, who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Ahmed Wakili said; “A stakeholders meeting has been held with all the concerned parties in attendance. A truce has been reached and the festival can go ahead as scheduled”.
Jimeta also said that the DPO in charge of the area has put every security measure in place to ensure a peaceful celebration and thereby called on the people of the area to be law abiding and do everything orderly.
The Police Commissioner warned that the Command will not tolerate anything from any quarter that will threatened the relative peace being enjoyed by people of the area, saying that the personnel of the Command are ready to ensure a hitch-free festival.
He then appealed to the parties involved to eschew anything that is inimical to peace and embrace peaceful conduct considering the fact that they are all one irrespective of the slight differences in opinion and affiliations.
