…Police commence full, discreet investigations
The Nigeria Police Command in Bauchi State has confirmed the gruesome murder a woman politician in the State, who was Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Bauchi South, late Jemimah Dutse.
The police command in a statement on Sunday, October 4, 2026, by its Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, stated that the late Jemimah Dutse was attacked and slaughtered in her house.
The police spokesperson said that operatives have commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of the APC former Woman Leader.
SP Habib said; “On 3rd October, 2026 at about 1407hrs, a 49-year-old man of Muazu New Layout, Yelwa, reported at ‘E’ Division that the lifeless body of the deceased was discovered in a pool of blood inside her residence at Muazu New Layout, Yelwa, with her throat slit by yet-to-be-identified assailant(s).
“Upon receipt of the report, Detectives attached to ‘E’ Division promptly visited the scene, documented it, and evacuated the body to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical examination and autopsy.
“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed the immediate transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and thorough investigation with a view to unraveling the circumstances surrounding her murder and bringing perpetrators to justice,” he stated.
While commiserating with the family, friends, and political associates of the deceased, the Police command in Bauchi State, assured the public that no stone will be left unturned to ensure justice is served.
Meanwhile, a group known as ‘The Take-It-Back (TIB) Movement’, Bauchi State Chapter, has condemned the murder of Mrs. Jamima J. Dutse, and called on security agencies to immediately investigate the killing.
A statement dated October 4, 2026, signed by its Bauchi State Coordinator, Nazif Bashi, the TIB Movement expressed shock and outrage over the killing and commiserated with Jemimah Dutse’s family, friends and associates.
The group described the killing as a “senseless act of violence”, saying that it raised concerns about the safety of residents in the state.
It further said; “A society where citizens regardless of their political affiliations, gender, or status, cannot feel safe in their own homes is one on the brink of breakdown”.
