BY OUR CORRESPONDENT – Apprehension took the centre stage in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital on Thursday after Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo suddenly collapsed and was reportedly rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa for emergency treatment.
Reports from the Government House said the incident occurred around 1:30 pm while the Deputy Governor was in his office, prompting an emergency response from state officials
According to eyewitnesses’ account, he was described as being in a serious condition when being driven to the hospital’s emergency unit.
However, it was reliably gathered that Senator Ewhrudjakpo is currently stabilized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at FMC.
Meanwhile, no official statement has been released regarding the cause of his health scare, but insider sources suggest it may be related to stress and possible fatigue emergency.
But insider sources close to the Deputy Governor hinted about his demanding daily schedule, saying, “He’s a workaholic; and it is important that he should find time to rest.”
Also reports said security operatives have cordoned off the hospital, while some top government officials have visited to wish him well and a wuick recovery.
At the time of filling this reports, efforts to reach the Deputy Governor’s media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, for comments proved abortive but competent sources at the hospital said Ewhrudjakpo is stable and also receiving the best medical care possible.
