The recent meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has once again provided clarity and direction for the party.
At the meeting, the NEC approved the extension of the tenure of States Caretaker Committee as well as those at the Local Government and wards across the country until the first quarter of 2026.
This decision, from all indications, was taken in the overall interest of party stability, cohesion, and effective coordination as the APC continues to reposition itself for the tasks ahead.
Flowing from this resolution, the Benjamin Omale-led Caretaker Committee of the APC remains the only duly recognized and legitimate leadership structure of the APC in Benue State.
This affirmation by the party’s highest decision-making body outside the convention leaves no room for ambiguity. It underscores the need for all party faithful to align with the recognized structure and work within it for the collective good of the party.
This is a defining moment for the party in Benue State. It is a time that calls for maturity, restraint, and unity of purpose.
The distractions as a result of internal disagreements must give way to constructive engagement and purposeful political mobilization.
Our focus should be on consolidating the party, strengthening its grassroots base, and rallying widespread support for the administration of Mr. President and the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
Benue State stands at a critical crossroads in its development journey. What the state requires now are deliberate, well-thought-out, and sustained development efforts, and Governor Alia has demonstrated both the vision and the resolve to deliver on this mandate.
Through strategic interventions in agriculture, infrastructure, human capital development, and governance reforms, his administration is steadily working to restore Benue’s long-held reputation as the Food Basket of the Nation.
Benue is not short of capable hands. The state is blessed with notable sons and daughters who are contributing meaningfully to national development in various sectors. This reality should inspire unity rather than division.
It is therefore imperative for all stakeholders to reject the politics of disunity, learn from the errors of the past, and embrace a common front anchored on progress, inclusion, and shared responsibility.
At this point in our political journey, unity is not just desirable, it is essential.
A united APC in Benue State is better positioned to deliver good governance, deepen democratic dividends, and secure a prosperous future for our people. This is the task before us, and it is one that demands the commitment, loyalty, and collective effort of all party members and supporters.
