Benue: Gov. Alia Condemns, Expresses Concerns Over Attacks On Anwase Community
…Vows to fish out perpetrators
Benue State Governor, Rev Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has expressed serious concern and deep sadness over what he described as “the unprovoked attacks” on the Anwase community in Kwande Local Government Area of the State, during which innocent people were gruesomely murdered.
Governor Alia while strongly condemning the attack on unarmed innocent citizens of Benue State by suspected armed herders, expressed worry that such a heinous act has continued in the state despite the efforts of his administration to ensure the safety of his people.
The Governor vowed that he would continue to use lawful procedures to protect Benue people, with a charge on security personnel to improve on their surveillance and also ensure that vulnerable communities are not left unguarded.
Alia said; “I can assure you that the perpetrators of this heinous act will pay dearly for it. They may think they are not known, but they cannot be allowed to continue perpetrating this. It’s a matter of time”.
The Governor condoled with the families of those that lost their loved ones in the attack and equally sympathized with those injured, saying his thoughts of comfort and prayers are with them at this difficult time.
Alia assured that the perpetrators would be brought to face the full wrath of the law.
