Troops of the 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Joint Task Force in the North West on the auspices of ‘Operation Fansan Yamma’, on Thursday, December 26, 2024, successfully eliminated one of the most notorious terrorist kingpins, Alhaji Ma’oli.

Ma’oli, who had been terrorising the residents of Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, Magazawa, and other surrounding areas in Bilbis, Tsafe Local Government Area, was killed during a decisive operation carried out in Mai Sheka village, near Kunchin Kalgo town in Zamfara State.

This was as residents of the affected areas expressed hope that the victory recorded over the killing of Ma’obi will go a long way in paving the way for lasting security and development of the communities.

Ma’obi was notorious for imposing illegal levies on the local population thereby inflicting a reign of terror on the poor locals in the area.

Ma’oli’s elimination by the troops has brought about the much desired relief to the locals, who were before now been living in fear under his criminal reign of terror.

Security sources said that the operation was launched following intelligence reports on some terrorists on motorcycles operating in the Bilbis axis for which troops of the ‘Operation Fansan Yamma’ moved swiftly and prevented their planned attack on local communities.

The troops also ensured and reinforced the commitment of the Joint Task Force to safeguard the area from further terrorist activities.

A statement by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma, said the success of the operation was part of the determination and commitment of the Joint Task Force towards pursuing and neutralizing the remaining terrorists and their collaborators across the North-west geo-political zone.

Abdullahi said; “Operation Fansan Yamma will continue to work diligently alongside local communities to restore lasting peace and security in Zamfara State and beyond”.
