Operatives of the Nigeria Police, Benue State command have arrested 46 suspects in connection with the attack on the convoy of the Presidential candidate of the  Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), which occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

This was announced on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 by the Commissioner of Police for the Beniue State Command, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu.

CP Nwadiogbu said key leaders of the youths involved in the incident are being trailed while investigation is ongoing.

The police boss warned that the Benue State command will not allow any act of political intolerance as the general election approaches, stressing that the command would continue to take necessary steps to identify all those involved and ensure that anyone found culpable would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

The arrest followed the blockade of Obi’s convoy while on his way to Yelewata, where he was billed to meet and commiserate with victims of the June 2025 attacks.

However, trouble started a few meters away from the Makurdi airport when Obi’s convoy ran into a roadblock on the two-lane of Makurdi-Gboko federal highway.
