Residents of Glen View and Highfield in Zimbabwe were on Saturday, July 12, 2025, stunned as a 26-year-old woman, Amanda Chizanga Chakanyuka, was arrested for allegedly kidnapping her former lover and coercing him into unprotected sexual activity under the pretext of removing “rituals.”
Reports indicated that Amanda, a Harare lady, who was accompanied by five unidentified men, allegedly stormed the Glen View 7 home of her ex-boyfriend, Linos Gapanga, 38 and forcefully dragged him out of his home into a waiting black BMW (registration ACD 9485), while Amanda and the others followed in a Ford Ranger (registration ADG 3211).
Gapanga, who expressed shock at the development told H-Metro, saying; “I was shocked to see Amanda walking in with five men. They said I had raped and impregnated her”.
Gapanga further said that the kidnap team led by his ex-girlfriend transported him to Machipisa Pink Lodge in Highfield where three of the men allegedly assaulted him and forced him into a room where Amanda was waiting.
He also said; “They said I had to sleep with her without protection to remove some rituals.
“After the act, the group left with his wallet containing US$142 and several bank cards.
Confirming the incident, the Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza said Amanda has been arrested.
Chakanza said; “Police arrested a woman in connection with a kidnapping and robbery case in Highfield. The case involves ex-lovers and five other men.
“The complainant sustained a swollen face, rib pains, and complained of a headache. He was referred to Sally Mugabe Hospital for treatment. Investigations are continuing,” he said.
However, the five unidentified male accomplices are still at large as investigations proceed.
However, the victim, Gapanga, who reported the matter after he was released, is demanding justice, saying; “I didn’t deserve what happened. I want those people to be arrested”.
The bizarre case has attracted so much attention on social media, with many expressing outrage particularly over the alleged motive involving ritual cleansing.
