The project is being handled by the Ministry through its Department of Erosion, Flood and Coastal Zone management.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Gombe, the Community’s Village Head, Suleiman Adamu Waziri, described the Senator’s intervention in the erosion control project as timely, noting that the gully was already posing a huge threat to the community.
Waziri said; “I want to sincerely appreciate the effort of Senator Danjuma Goje for coming to our aid to execute this gully erosion control project. Before now, this area used to be a death trap especially during raining season.
“It was so deep and threatening such that many of the residents relocated from the area when the state of the gully became worse. But the committed effort of the senator towards executing the project had helped in addressing the problem.”
According to him, “Goje promised to do something on the gully when he was campaigning. Thank God now he has delivered what he promised. Work is now ongoing successfully at the site. We appreciate him and pray that God will help him too.”
The royal father however pleaded with Senator Gone, who a former Governor of the State, to rescind his decision of not contesting election again, saying that the people still need his services as their representative at the upper legislative chamber.
“I am calling on him to please withdraw his earlier decision that he wouldn’t contest election again. It’s still not time for him to quit because people need his service and the upcoming generation of politicians has a lot to learn from his political school of thought,” Waziri said.
The Village Head also praised the State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for executing various developmental projects across the state, even as he urged the people to fully support and cooperate with the administration to deliver on its campaign promises.
