…As NAF attacks insurgents in Konduga
BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – Nigerian Troops have continued to record huge successes in the on-going war against terrorism with the eliminationof terrorists in an ambush along the Dikwa axis of Borno State.
According to the Nigerian Army, its troops of 3 Battalion under 22 Brigade on Friday, October 20, 2017 at about 11.30am while on routine patrol came under Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) ambush close to Missini Village along Dikwa – Ngala road, northern part of Borno.
The Army said its gallant troops cleared the ambush and neutralised three Boko Haram terrorists as well as recovered one AK-47 rifle with registration number KO357026 and 39 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition from the terrorists.
In a related development, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), component of Operation LAFIYA DOLE said it conducted an attack on a location in Urga area close to Konduga on October 19, 2017.
It said previous intelligence reports, gathered through Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions by NAF ISR platforms, had indicated the presence of a large number of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) in Durwawa settlement in the outskirt of Urga.
It said accordingly, one Alpha Jet aircraft was detailed to carry out air interdiction on the target, adding that overhead the location, the aircraft acquired and attacked the target twice with bombs.
A statement by NAF Spokesman, Air Commodore Olatukunbo Adesanya said NAF Aisubsequent Battle Damage Assessment revealed that the aerial attack set off a fire, causing damage to the Boko Haram terrorists’ structures within the settlement and neutralizing most of the terrorists while a few of them fled the location.
Adesanya also said; “The aerial attack by NAF is in furtherance of efforts at ensuring the complete decimation of the BHTs and breaking their will to continue their terrorist attacks on innocent Nigerians.”
