BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – Dare devil Kidnappers on Thursday evening moved decisively to the quiet town of Ugah near Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital and abducted the traditional ruler, Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji, the Aron Akye of Ugah.

The kidnappers, who braved the difficult terrain and access to the town due to the bad nature of the road leading to it, are demanding for N50 million ransom for the release of the second class traditional ruler.
The Aron Akye of Ugah was believed to have been abducted at about 7:30pm on Thursday night shortly after breaking his fast and immediately whisked away with a motorcycle stationed outside the palace to an unknown destination.
A family source told Forefront News on Saturday that the kidnappers allowed the traditional ruler to speak to the family early hours of Saturday, two days after he was kidnapped.
The source said; “He called this morning to say that they are demanding N50M from him before they will release him.
“They went away with the mobile phone of the son which was charging and contacted a number in the phone, who got across to the family and they spoke with the royal Father saying that they are demanding for N50 million from him.”
The source further said that the kidnappers numbering about 20 were carrying sophisticated weapons with which some of them wearing Hijab used to scale the fence of the palace before getting access to the traditional ruler.
Efforts made to get the police reaction on the development proved abortive as the Nasarawa State Police Command Public Relations officer, Nansel Ramhnan did not pick his calls.
