Brotherhood Plans Religious Tourism, Decries Greed Among People
BY UBON EKANEM, PORT HARCOURT – In the spirit of the Yuletide, the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) is embarking on a religious tourism campaign to the 36 states of the federation with the theme “Unification of the human race”
This is as the religious Organisation expressed concern that greed and avarice have unfortunately gained roots in a society that urgently needs forgiveness and peace to thrive as the solutions to the existing and emerging crisis
As part of its Evangelical mission, the BCS would visit correctional centers, and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, hold Charity Awards with renowned Gospel singers on parade as well as distribute items, including food and clothing materials to the needy.
The organization’s Spokesperson, Patriarch Dr Amah William, who unveiled the plans at a media conference in Port Harcourt, said the lineup of events for the evangelical mission would climax with the 4th annual public lecture series of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu on the 29th of December.
According to the organization spokesman, the events are mapped out to prove that love and peace remain the greatest weapon the human race can employ to conquer war and strife in a society where hatred and segregation have been allowed to take a center stage in the human relationship with one another.
He also said the birthday of the BCS’ Spiritual Leader, Olumba Olumba Obu, which is part of the event marking the evangelical mission, would provide them with ample opportunity to showcase the fact that hope is not lost for the human race provided there are conscious efforts to retrace our steps from the path of iniquity.
Patriarch William, who is also a university Don, emphasized that preaching condemnation in the face of an already tense situation where greed and avarice seem to be the order of the day is not the solution to the challenges currently facing the country.
For him, the time has come for mankind to strive at embracing one another in the spirit of forgiveness and peace in line with scriptural teachings.
