Eleven persons have been reported injured after a fully loaded high-capacity bus fell on its side inside the dedicated lane (BRT lane) along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, near Iyana-Ipaja
Official confirmation from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said the unfortunate incident occurred early hours of Friday at about 7:45 am.
According to the reports, emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to provide medical assistance and transport the victims to nearby healthcare facilities for treatment.
LASTMA wrote on its official X handle that; “A fully loaded high-capacity bus fell on its side inside the dedicated lane (BRT lane) with a record of 10 casualties (victims), who have been taken care of,”
Though details of likely cause of the accident and the victims’ condition were still being expected from official quarters, LASTMA, as the agency managing traffic in Lagos State and enforcing its traffic laws, has urged motorists to exercise caution as they navigate through the accident area.
In a related development, the Authority disclosed that another loaded truck fell at Durbar Junction on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, completely blocking the road inward to Alakija.
It also confirmed that the accident caused significant traffic disruption, with vehicles being diverted through the service lane from Orile heading towards Durbar.
Accordingly, LASTMA advised motorists to follow the diversion and exercise patience as efforts are underway to clear the obstruction and restore normal traffic flow
The Authority’s post on X read; “[7:22 AM] #LagBadgryExp #DurbarJunction #AccidentReport There is a fallen loaded truck at Durbar junction inward Alakija that took 100% of the road.
“Traffic has been diverted through the service lane from Orile heading towards Durbar.
