Brutal Attack: IPC Demand Justice, Adequate Protection For Female Journalist, Vendi


The International Press Centre (IPC), has condemned the barbaric and brutal attack on the female journalist, a mother of three, Mrs. Nefasah Vendi in Yola, Adamawa State by her estranged husband.

IPC in a statement by its Executive Director, Mr. Lanre Arogundade, noted that the spikes in the case of domestic violence against women by their spouses is alarming.

The statement which was signed by the Press Freedom Officer of IPC, Melody Lawal said that report reaching the IPC Safety Alert Desk revealed that, Vandi a mother of three was allegedly beaten to the point of stupor by her estranged husband, Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu, who inflicted various degree of injuries, including dislocation of one of her hands.

Arogundade therefore charged security operatives to thoroughly carry out their investigations and prosecute the perpetrator as a step towards reducing attacks on female journalists in Nigeria.

He further said; “We condemn the attack and demand apprehension and trial of the alleged prosecutor so that justice can be served”.
