BY VICTOR OSOWOCHI – Resurgent Manchester United made it two consecutive victories as a 55th-minute goal from Bruno Fernandes was enough to see them earn a crucial 1-0 away victory over Southampton.

And as Fernandes headed for the corner flag to celebrate scoring the game’s only goal, United, for a brief moment, seemed one big happy family, easily forgetting about the frustrations of their opening two humiliating losses a couple of weeks ago or the “Glazers out” chants that preceded kick-off.

In a match in which United’s newest Brazilian import, Carlos Henrique Casimiro made his debut as a late substitute, the Portuguese international found the corner of Southampton’s goal with a cunning volley and was soon on the receiving end of a hug from countryman Cristiano Ronaldo, warming up on the sidelines.

Also, the club captain, Harry Maguire, again left on the bench, rose from the away dugout to applaud while manager Erik ten Hag punched the air in delight.

However, Southampton’s substitute, Sékou Mara ensured panic in six minutes of second-half stoppage time but United held on to earn successive Premier League victories and a first away win since February.

United had 56 percent of the possession with six (6) shots on target leaving Southampton with 48 percent ball possession and five (5) shots on target while Keeper David De Gea made sure United walked away with no blemish.

With the hard-fought victory, United temporarily moved up to 6th place on the log pending the kick-off of other Matchday 4. fixtures.
