Buhari Picks 7 New Ministers As Amaechi, Onu, Others’ Replacements

BY EDMOND ODOK – President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a list containing seven new nominees to the Nigerian Senate for consideration and confirmation as Ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Their nomination is contained in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Dr Ahmad Lawan that was read during Tuesday’s plenary.

In his letter, the President listed the ministerial designates as Henry Ikechukwu (Abia), Umana Okon-Umana (Akwa-Ibom), Ekuma Joseph (Ebonyi), Goodluck Obia (Imo), Umar Ibrahim (Kano), Ademola Adewole (Ondo), and Udum Odi (Rivers).

According to President Buhari, his expectation is to receive the usual expeditious consideration and confirmation of the nominees by the Upper Legislative Chamber.

The nominees’ ministers are to replace former ministers, Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation); Ogbonnaya Onu (Science, Technology, and Innovation); Godswill Akpabio (Niger Delta), and Emeka Nwajiuba (State-Education) who all resigned their appointments to pursue presidential aspirations.
