Argungu now jobless

BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked Dr Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Argungu Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE),

Argungu was relieved of his post in memo issued on December 4, 2020, effective from December 7.

The NDE boss’ sack was contained in a terse statement on Tuesday in Abuja by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu.

According to the presidential media aide, President Buhari has therefore directed the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), who supervises the agency, to nominate an acting Director-General from among the most Senior Directors in the NDE ”until a substantive holder of the post is appointed by Mr President”

Shehu’s statement indicated that in choosing the Acting Director General to immediately fill the vacuum created by Argungu’s removal, the officer should be nominated based on competence and seniority in service
