Buratai Promotes 6,199 Soldiers Serving In Operation Lafiya Dole

BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, on Tuesday approved the special promotion of 6,199 soldiers serving in Operation LAFIYA DOLE to various ranks between Lance Corporals to Warrant Officers in the Nigerian Army.
The breakdown of the beneficiaries of the special promotion are as follows:
Staff Sergeants to Warrant Officers – 329, Sergeants to Staff Sergeants –371, Corporals to Sergeants –707, Lance Corporals to Corporals –1,290 and Privates to Lance Corporals –3,502.
Buratai, while congratulating the beneficiaries, urged them to increase the tempo of the ongoing clearance operations of the Boko Haram terrorists in the North East.
Meanwhile, troops of the 233 Battalion, 27 Task Force Brigade of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in conjunction with vigilantes on routine patrol on Monday arrested four fleeing Boko Haram terrorists at Kurnari village and Nayinawa, outskirts of Damaturu, Yobe State.
A statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Sani Usman said the escaping Boko Haram terrorists namely, Bukar Waziri, aged 25 years and Mammade Lawan, aged 20 years, from Buk, while father and son, Muhammadu Damina, aged 40 years and Isah Muhammadu aged 15 years are from Talala.
Usman said that during preliminary investigation, the terrorists claimed that they were fleeing from their hideout at Talala and Buk in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State because of the unbearable military’s onslaughts and bombardments on their various locations.
Similarly, troops of 33 Brigade Nigerian Army, on Operation FOREST KUNAMA II, on Sunday July 23, 2017, following a tip off, at about 10.20pm, arrested one Salisu Ibrahim, an armed robbery suspect along Bauchi-Gombe road.

The Army spokesman said the terrorists and armed robbery suspects are being further investigated.
