CAF Actions Return July 18: Enyimba Host Ivorian Foes, Williamsville AC

Three days after the curtains fall on this year’s FIFA 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia on Sunday, July 15, the African continent will come alive with ‘thrilling CAF Confederation Cup games’ on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

According to a twitter message by Nigeria’s remaining representatives in Africa’s 2018 Club competitions, Enyimba International, the Aba-based team has a date with Williamsville AC of Côte d’Ivoire inside the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

The Club tweeted thus: “Thrilling CAF Confederation Cup games return in 10 days when we host Williamsville AC of Ivory Coast in the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo. Keep your July 18 free!”

The Coach Paul Aigbogun tutored side will take on their Ivorian foes in a make or mar encounter that is expected to determine their continued stay in the continental competition.

The People’s Elephant confirmed that the battle with Williamsville AC will hold at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital due to the recent suspension slammed on U. J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar that has served as their home ground until now.

Africa’s soccer governing body, Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) axed the U. J. Esuene Stadium owing to the poor state of its facilities.

However, Enyimba’s choice of the Adokiye Anamesiamaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State as their match venue failed to sail through because of its awful playing turf.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian club’s progress in the competition hangs in the balance following their 3-0 defeat to CARA Brazzaville of Congo in the last group encounter.

The team are currently placed third in Group C and needs a resounding victory to keep alive their hopes of reaching the next round.
