Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, Dokpesi Jnr Tested Positive For Coronavirus

BY VICTOR BUORO, ABUJA – The Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, Mr Raymond Dokpesi Jnr., has announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

Dokpesi disclosed this in a short message to members of staff of African Independent Television (AIT) and Ray Power in Abuja on Monday.

Dokpesi Jnr, who before the test was carried out and result announced, was on self-isolation for about a week when he began feeling ill with symptoms similar to malaria.

The Chairman of DAAR also explained that he also started experiencing cough and as a precaution, reached out to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), for a test which later turned out positive for the COVID-19.

In keeping with the policy of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dokpesi has been evacuated by the NCDC to the designated isolation centre situated at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada for treatment.

Dokpesi assured members of staff of DAAR Communications that he still feels strong and hopes to be back soon.

Part of Dokpesi Jnr’s message reads; “I got a call this morning confirming the result is COVID-19 positive. I am leaving now to the Gwagwalada isolation centre for treatment and hope to be back in two weeks.

“Many of you may have interacted with me during our various meetings and I would advise you to get tested as soon as possible.”

As a result of the outcome of his test being positive, the contact tracing team of the NCDC is to begin a test of persons who may have had contacts with Dokpesi Jnr in the past two weeks, as well as all other members of staff.
