Confusion Trails Abuja Chef’s Death

With the motive still unclear, controversy now surrounds the death of a popular Abuja-based Chef and Creative Director, Emeka Eloagu whose lifeless body was recently found in his home.

The unfortunate incident is giving Police authorities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) hard time as they seek to unravel the cause of Eloagu’s death, with some family members and friends suspecting that he was stabbed to death by the unknown assailants.

According to unconfirmed reports, Eloagu may have been killed by two unidentified persons who gained access into his apartment by tricks.

By their calculations, the deceased was forcefully stripped naked, tied up, and strangled to death by his attackers.

It was further gathered that the lifeless body of Eloagu, who was the Creative Director of an Abuja-based brand, Helenes Food Company, was discovered in his apartment on Sunday, August 1, 2021, by some neigbours.

The Cable quoted the FCT Police spokesperson, Mariam Yusuf, as saying that operatives of the Force are still investigating the case to ascertain the exact cause of Eloagu’s death.

A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Paris with a Grande Diplomé in cuisine and patisserie, Eloagu created a combination of French cooking methods with Nigerian cuisine and is known to have hosted prominent celebrities and politicians at his restaurant.

Describing his hospitality industry’s prowess, the deceased once wrote; “Chef Emeka believes in the artistry of food. He believes good food connects us with people and places and is an important aspect of cultural heritage. He enjoys travelling the world, learning.”
