Unruly Cow Kills 3-Month-Old Baby In Delta

Emotions ran high with tears flowing freely at Ebrumede community in the Effurun area of Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State as an unruly cow reportedly left a three-month-old baby dead on its track.

It was gathered that the tragic incident took place on Monday after the cow broke free from two herdsmen, who were escorting it to a buyer in town.

According to an eyewitness account, the cow cut loose from the men’s hands along DSC Expressway by Ebrumede Magistrate Court, near the DSC Roundabout, and strayed off to attack the child that was firmly wrapped on his mother’s back.

The distressing occurrence that led to the baby’s death happened at about 11 am on Monday and reports said the unsuspecting mother was attacked by the fleeing cow from behind.

Unfortunately, the unmanageable cow ran into the woman, with its horn hitting the baby on the head and bursting his skull in the process.

However, officials at the Warri Central Hospital, where the baby was rushed to for urgent medical attention, pronounced him dead on arrival.

The reports said an elderly man was also injured by the unruly cow which strayed into the court premises sending as lawyers, their clients, and everyone present scampering for safety.

Confirming the incident, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, said the herdsmen escorting the cow were arrested by police operatives.

They are currently cooling their feet at the Ebrumede Police Station whose officers are handling the case.
