A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) sitting in Maitama has directed the National Board for Technical Education, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, State Security Services to, as a matter of urgency unseal a property belonging to D. B. Mangal Company owned by Alhaji Barau Mangal.
The trial Judge, Justice Y. Halilu upon hearing the motion Ex-parte M/8161/2021, dated and filed on November 19, 2021 and upon listening to Ahmed Raji SAN with Peter Nwitu Esq, counsels to the applicant, granted all the four interim orders.
Alhaji Mangal had approached the Court with a Motion Ex-parte for an interim order of the court directing the Attorney General of the Federation, the State Security Service (SSS), the Inspector General of Police and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to unseal his seized property situated at the Maitama District, Abuja.
He said the property which is also known as Murjanatu House situated on Plot 1405 Cadastral Zone A05, Maitama belong to him.
Mangal also prayed the court for an interim order to grant him an unhindered access to the property with respect to Plot 1405 Cadastral Zone A05, Maitama belonging to him and for such further or other order as the Court may deem fit to make in the circumstance.
The applicant prayed the court to grant him the orders pending the determination of the originating motion.
The trial Judge granted all the three motions prayed for by Mangal asking the NBTE, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police and State Security Services to unseal his landed property on Plot No. 1405 Cadestral Zone A05 Maitama, Abuja.
Justice Halilu also directed the four respondents to henceforth allow Mangal unhindered access to his property they unlawfully seized.
The Court specifically directed the parties to maintain the status quo before the unlawful seizure pending the determination of the substantive matter.
The case was later adjourned to December 13, 2021 for hearing.
