Court Jails Burglars Seven Years For Robbing Patience Jonathan
For breaking into the home of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience, and stealing valuables worth millions of Naira, a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has convicted and sentenced two persons, Praise Gelson and Usman Garba to seven years imprisonment
Similarly, the court presided over by Justice Adolphus Enebeli, also convicted and sentenced one Tamunoala Alatoru to six months imprisonment for the negligence of her duties.
The defendants were arraigned before the court in November 2022, on a three-count charge of conspiracy, armed robbery, and attempted murder of the former President’s wife.
In delivering his judgment, the trial judge, Justice Ebebeli, found Gelson and Garba, who were the first and third defendants, guilty of armed robbery and attempted murder, noting that the prosecution counsel proved his case beyond a reasonable doubt.
The Court also held that the prosecution proved his case against Alatoru who was the second defendant, especially on the negligence of duties, and therefore sentenced her to six months imprisonment.
