A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, October 29, 2026,  restrained Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State from parading himself as the Imo West Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the scheduled January 16, 2027 election.

The court presided over by Justice Obiora Egwuatu issued the order after it held that Governor Uzodinma did not win the party’s senatorial primary conducted on May 18, which was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Justice Egwuatu also held that the evidence presented before it showed that the former Governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast in the primary.

Consequently, the court directed the APC to submit Senator Okorocha’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its candidate and also ordered the electoral body to publish Okorocha’s name for the 2027 senatorial election.
