Covenant University Leads UI, Unilag, Others In Nigeria’s TIMES Overall Best Varsities

Covenant University has again retained its top spot with the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 publishing comprehensive data and statistics on universities across continents.

The publication on the Times website is a survey of the approved data for Nigerian universities and the reports indicate that it is based on the new WUR 3.0 methodology which includes 18 carefully calibrated Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Accordingly, KPIs benchmark an institution’s performance across five areas; teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook. Based on the national scale rating, Covenant University is listed as Nigeria’s best in all these areas.

According to the statement; “The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024 include 1,907 universities across 108 countries and regions with a look into how the global higher education landscape is shifting.

“The table is based on our new WUR 3.0 methodology, which includes 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.”

Furthermore, the statement said; “This year’s ranking analysed more than 134 million citations across 16.5 million research publications and included survey responses from 68,402 scholars globally” adding; “Overall, we collected 411,789 data points from more than 2,673 institutions that submitted data.”

“Trusted worldwide by students, teachers, governments, and industry experts, the 2024 league table reveals how the global higher education landscape is shifting”, the statement posited.

Over the years, Times’ rankings have been used by prospective students, employers, and governments as a benchmark to evaluate universities and their performance in the respective areas.
