COVID-19: Brazil Records 800,000 Cases, Over 40,000 Deaths

The alarm bell continues to sound loudly in Brazil with the Health authorities expressing concerns over the rising numbers of coronavirus patients as the country’s total jumped to over 802,828 confirmed cases late on Thursday, June 11, 2020.

Consequently, with 30,412 new infections in the last 24 hours, the South American country now ranks as the world’s second worst hit by the pandemic outbreak after the United States.

More frightening is that the 1,239 fatality record on Thursday took the death toll in Brazil to over 40,919, the Health ministry said, noting that this figure represent the world’s third highest after the United States and the United Kingdom.

The Ministry officials said it is however heartwarming that 345,595 patients out of the total COVID-19 cases have recovered from the virus infection nationwide.With agency reports
